up until now i had only been able to connect with katie and steven over email and a few phone calls. and being that connection plays such an important role in my ability to tell their story, i couldn’t have been more thrilled when i pulled up to our local wilderness park and found katie and steven ready and waiting.
we exchanged handshakes and hugs, and then got on with the fun part…
no… not taking photos. although the photo-taking part of an engagement shoot is a lot of fun. and yes we did take a lot of photos. but, the real fun, the real value, is found in the connection… the conversation that ties one story to another.
we laughed and talked and shared. i shared my story with them, and they shared their story with me. and by the end of our time together on that late spring afternoon, i drove home with more than a memory card full of images. i drove home having made two new friends.
