Upon arrival, Carlie and I started collecting a few of the details to photograph before the timeline would start to pick up speed. We set up the shoes, the dress, and a few other pieces like the custom emergency kit prepared by one of the bridesmaids. And just before it came time to don the dress, there was a knock on the door.

In walked Joey’s older brother, Brett… not with one gift, but with a stack of them. He shuffled past the makeup kits and curling irons, to the edge of the room where Tina sat, and he announced that yes there were many gifts and yes there was a specific order. She started with a single card, and proceeded to open gift after gift, and those of us in the room all felt like we were watching a scene from ‘The Notebook’ unfold before us. Tina opened up an easel, and paints, and all the intricacies required to bring back her old passion for painting.

Then, after the final gift, and a closing letter from Joey professing his adoration and commitment… after all of that… came the encore.

Brett set down his iPhone atop the bed, tapped the screen and we all waited with baited breath. A melodic tune, a single guitar, bounced out of the little black screen, and before long we were all laughing at the tune we recognized as ‘Lady in Red’ now adapted as ‘Lady in White’ as Joey sang his own lyrics just for his bride. The song moved from a romantic serenade to an upbeat rap, and though it was definitely entertaining that song was so much more.

It was obvious that Joey had fallen for Tina, and that he is the kind of man willing to risk it all for the woman he loves. There is no better picture of love, and Carlie & I are so excited for you two. Your great-grandparents have set the bar high, and it was so great to have them there on your wedding day. But now, it’s your turn. And, we can’t wait for the next 62 years, if we are that lucky to still be around, to hear the stories you will create – stories that all started on a single day, with a single song, between two people madly in love.

This is the first time, however, that she would be center-stage.

Months after booking their wedding, we were finally able to coordinate busy schedules and calendar Steph and Bobby’s Venice Beach Engagement Shoot. After spending some time together, and getting to know them better, I was even more excited for their wedding day, slated for the summer at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu. I got a sneek peak into what the wedding day would hold.

From the vintage cocktail decor brought in by the bride’s company Best Events, to the hand-made signs, to the flip book photo booth, every detail was in place… leaving way for what was be most important; for Steph & Bobby to celebrate their wedding with those they love most.

If anything were true, by freezing that one moment in time, you could tell that Diane and Jerry are truly loved.

There’s something to be said for the company you keep. You can tell a lot about a person, or couple, by those they keep close. So, it was no surprise that on Diane and Jerry’s wedding day, the intimate gathering was full of passionate and caring people.

Diane and Jerry are the benefactors of a whole host of people that care intently and live passionately. As such, Diane and Jerry are passionate and caring people.

The marriachi band, however, was not the only detail planned with such care. With Lindye Galloway in charge of design and implementation, Jenna and Robbie took cues from the Spanish-style venue, Estancia La Jolla.

Their ceremony was sprinkled with special touches from friends: one of their closest friends officiated the whole thing while another group of friends played a special song for everybody in the middle of it all. And the cocktail hour, then reception to follow, was one that won’t be forgotten.

From start to finish, it was apparent that Amy and Jeff were so grateful to celebrate with their friends and family. The day flowed effortlessly, in part due to the top-notch coordinating from Carolyn’s team, and in part because of Amy and Jeff themselves. You can’t help but be affected by their positive spirit. And as was such with all of us that were fortunate enough to participate in their wedding.

It can be said that nothing grounds a person more than loss; nothing gives greater importance to life. And with an empty seat at the table for Jeff’s father, the newlyweds embodied a sense of honor and gratitude. Quite often, we don’t know what we have until it is gone. But that cannot be said about Amy and Jeff.

Amy and Jeff are clear about what matters most, and their new marriage will truly be the benfactor.

Overwhelmed by their joy from just having tied the knot, Michael wrapped Jennefer up in his arms, under as much cover as their umbrella would give them, and we went to work clicking our shutter to capture it all.

Back-track… It was a sunny Thursday afternoon in Southern California when I got the call from Stefanie, Jennefer and Michael’s fabulous wedding designer/coordinator. Hurricane-level rains were heading for the Dallas/Fort Worth area and the decision had been made to switch venues… about 2 hours from the original location.

And as we do, we rolled with it. The next day, Carlie & I hopped on a plane, from Southern California to the heart of Texas, alongside our friends and wedding filmmakers, Steve and Ben of Threaded Films. (CLICK HERE to see there trailer)

But, instead of finding a group of people inconvenienced by the elements, we found a family drawn together with excitement. Their faith told them that this is how it was meant to be. Under the pouring rain, Jennefer and Michael would start their life together at Thistle Creek Ranch for their sure-to-be-awesome barnyard wedding.

And nothing was shorter from the truth.

at the reception, katie’s mom thanked steven’s parents [rightfully] for raising such an incredible young man, and then shared how she had been praying for years, for the man that would one day marry her little girl. on that day, yes, katie and steven made their vows to one another and began their life as husband and wife. but on that day, God’s faithfulness is what shone thru more than anything else.

it feels like it has been a long time coming, and after their engagement shoot last year, i only got more excited for the bog day, having seen just a glimpse into their story. and now, i couldn’t be happier to share the start of something incredible; katie and steven’s life together.

here’s to a long and full life for two people that deserve it whole-heatedly!

with all of the details in order, from the socks to the mustache-accented flasks, the culmination of all that planning and preparation came to a point for lauren and andrew, and it did so at maravilla gardens. their family and friends travelled from all over, and made their way to southern california to witness a single moment; that moment when lauren’s father turned the corner of the aisle, with his daughter in hand, and handed her off to one mr. andrew frey.

we’ve enjoyed getting to know lauren and andrew over the last year, over coffee at starbucks, during their ah-mazing engagement shoot in san juan capistrano, and leading up to the final days before their wedding. and we couldn’t be happier to share just a bit of their story here on our blog.

their lives would be the classic example of a venn diagram. although jerry didn’t know diane, and diane didn’t know jerry, their respective circle of friends overlapped and in that overlap is where a handful of mutual friends… match-makers… attempted to connect the two. diane’s friends told her about this guy jerry that she just had to meet. while jerry’s friends mentioned that they had this friend diane who would be a perfect match for jerry and he ought to at least take her out on a date.

alas, diane and jerry’s intersection of mutual friends could not successfully bring the two together. rather, it took a little bit of fate and the [no pun intended] matchmaking abilities of the internets to bring diane and jerry together.

it all started, when diane stumbled across jerry’s profile and winked at him. when jerry didn’t respond immediately, she thought maybe he wasn’t interested. in fact, quite the opposite was true. so, after a little bit of e-flirting and some investigation with one of his buddies who was convinced that jerry’s online interest was in fact the diane they had been trying to set him up with all this time, the first date finally went down.

and what started as a first date in his hometown of san clemente, has spun itself into an incredible relationship between two incredible people. having gotten to know diane and jerry a bit over the past few months, i can say without a doubt, that the world is a little bit better now that these two are together.
