Editorial Feature – The Knot Southern California

story is what draws me in.maybe that’s why i love my job as a wedding photographer.  i get to know new people and their story.  and then i get the sweet invitation to capture their story on the wedding day.  i tell my clients that whether their wedding goes into a magazine or not [which is totally up to them of course] i will photograph their big day as if that is where it is going.  because if there is one thing that editorial can do well is tell story.

you might remember stacy & kevin and their ah-mazing calamigos ranch wedding, but carlie & i were stoked when we heard the knot wanted to share stacy & kevin’s wedding with their readers.  thanks again to the amazing team of vendors with the jesi haack design team at the helm, that helped articulate stacy & kevin’s vision.  y’all make my job that much more fun!

An Intimate Backyard Wedding – Ashley and Cory

everything seems to come full circle.

it seems like forever ago that we sat down on a sunny los angeles day, to connect with ashley and cory about their upcoming wedding.  out of the excitement from being newly engaged, ashley had been scouring all of her favorite wedding blogs for inspiration when she came across our work.

the thread that connects us with so many of our clients seems so thin.  call it fate.  call it luck.  i like to call it blessing.

and it is no different with ashley and cory.  from that first meeting at the grove in los angeles, to their engagement shoot at temescal gateway park, to their incredibly intimate backyard wedding in calabassas, i pinch myself to think that i had the chance to play even a small role.

A Malibu Vineyard Wedding at Saddlerock Ranch

some guys might spend all their time trying to figure just which song to turn to on their iPod when it comes time to “pop the question” but matt went one step further. sharing a love for music, matt opted for a more hi-def experience than just plugging in his iPod… he proposed center-stage [almost... but not quite... literally].

coldplay was atop the stage, while audree and matt rocked out below, enjoying one of their favorite bands [yeah... they have good taste], when matt dropped to one knee and asked audree to marry him.

so… when one of their signature drinks was a “coldplay yellow margarita” and their invitations went out like the latest album from tower records, it only made sense. matt & audree infused themselves 100% into every detail of their wedding.

beyond the phenomenal details, styled by the uber-awesome nancy park of so happy together, which included some incredible treats from melody at my sweet and saucy & a bunch of rad furniture from found vintage rentals, and from and in the midst of a rocking’ dance party with former KROQ dj richard blade at the mic, was a groom simply & fully in love with his bride.
